Respect

Respect is regarding with deference, esteem and honour.   It is avoiding interfering with, harming, degrading, insulting, injuring or interrupting.   Others have to give respect of their own free will, you cannot expect it of right because of your position, nor order it, or request it, or buy it.   Respect has to be earned before it is given.   Without the respect of others you cannot function properly and carry out plans.   It is not earned by bullying or intimidation, but by your character and beliefs.   You do not have to be liked to be respected and you do not have to agree with others to give them respect.

Earning respect is achieved by letting others know your beliefs and having the strength and character to stay with those beliefs when they are challenged or tested.   Respect should also be given when it is deserved.   Remember you only have the planet and its contents on loan for the duration of your life so treat them with respect.   Behaving in a manner that will earn respect means listening properly to others, allowing them to have their own beliefs. It also means reducing the influence the ego has in dealings with others.   It is only your character that earns respect not your position.
